How To Become an Executive Secretary

As an executive secretary, you may work in schools, hospitals, legal, and corporate offices. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 9 out of 10 executive assistants work for service-providing industries, such as education, health, government, and retail trade. The basic training for an executive assistant is through a combination of classes and general office experience. Most business schools and colleges offer a two-year program for an associate's degree. You may be required to take classes in bookkeeping, word-processing, business communication, and time management. It may be necessary to continue your education and retrain as technology evolves.
