California criminal defense lawyers may wish to make note of this bio when considering hiring any paralegals out of UCLA. There may be some re-training to do. This is the same Robin Sax who wrote Predators and Child Molesters: What Every Parent Needs to Know to Keep Kids Safe, which received a rave review from Nancy Grace. Canadian Small Claims Court- Is Representation Necessary ...
One of the best parts to hiring a paralegal is they will help you keep from misrepresenting yourself and getting confused in the process. If this is your first go round in a small claims court, it can be a nightmare if you’re not prepared. You: The Defendant If you happen to be the defendant in the situation, the first thing you should do is hire representation. Taking this route will give the paralegal on your side an opportunity to explain the process and provide you with any loopholes or mistakes that occurred on the filer’s part. Interview with a Paralegal | Criminal Justice School Guide
What advice do you have for those who are interested in becoming a paralegal? My advice is to study a major that is close to the legal field or used in conjunction with it. This would include criminal justice, law, english, communication, business, international relations, journalism, or political science. Then I would suggest spending one year attaining a certificate or an associate’s degree in paralegal studies. Large firms prefer to hire staff members that are well rounded. I would also recommend completing the state and/or national boards to become a registered paralegal. I feel that [more...]

Top Reasons to Become a Paralegal | Criminal Justice School Guide
Paralegals were recently listed as CNBC.com’s 7th Best Job in America for 2010- and we are not surprised! Here is a list of reasons why we feel becoming a paralegal is an excellent career choice for individuals of all types. Paralegals are in High Demand. As demand for legal services grows, so does the need for paralegal assistance. This is partially because law firms are able to cut costs by hiring paralegals instead of additional lawyers. how do i check the reputation of a paralegal training school?
How do I check the reputation of a paralegal training school? I’m considering a career change, at age 48, to become a paralegal. I found a local training school called the Paralegal Institute of Washington, DC (PIW). PIW’s website states that they are “a licensed higher-education learning center, committed to training paralegals.” The site also states that all legal classes are taught by seasoned lawyers, and that claim is backed up by the detailed resumes of each one.
