Daily Kos: Cheers and Jeers: Tuesday
History will be cruel because...gay adoption---and even gay marriage---is already a reality in many states and will happily spread across the country, gaining legal and social approval and making such statements as "children are not puppies" seem as outdated as "Blacks will destroy unit cohesion if the military tries desegregation." Verdict: History will be CRUEL. Mike Huckabee is smart enough to know better, but chooses instead to sell his soul to the lowest common teabagger. He'll always have a portrait hanging in the Arkansas statehouse, but other than that he'll mostly be a political [more...]

Iron Man 2: Lots of laughs, lots of clanks » Milton Arts ...
By Peter Howell of the Toronto Star: “Please, it’s not about me!” reformed warlord Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) insists at the start of Iron Man 2. He’s being disingenuous, of course, and not just because he makes this statement while surrounded by jiggling dancers at a bells-and-whistles corporate expo promoting his metal-clad machismo. The first Iron Man found hilarity and energy by making it very plain just how much it was about the priapic Mr. Stark, whom Downey invests with almost satanic allure. For once, we had a superhero who wasn’t nibbling his fingernails to the quick, [more...]

US DEPT OF LABOR SAYS AVERAGE PARALEGAL SALARY IS RISING
In addition to earning a salary, paralegals also receive vacation, paid sick leave, a savings plan, life insurance, personal paid time off, dental insurance, and reimbursement for continuing legal education. The Case of the Golden Tablet - Strange Lawsuits - Legally Weird
A long time ago, archeologists discovered a beautiful golden tablet buried in the sands of the ancient Assyrian Empire, now known to us as Iraq. After many delays and a small diversion to Portugal during WWI, the golden tablet made its way to a Berlin museum. The tablet did not rest there long, but was supposedly "liberated" by the occupying Russian army after the fall of Berlin at the end of WWII. The tablet finally found a home with a Holocaust survivor who himself had moved to New York. After his death, his children inherited the tablet, and in a 'no good deed goes unpunished' [more...]
