What's The Average Salary of House Staff? | The Open House Project
It would be interesting to compare the pay for these positions against their private sector or executive branch equivalents, taking into account Washington D.C.’s higher-than-average cost of living. Keep in mind that most U.S. Representatives earn $174,000 annually. * The numbers below represent educated guesses drawn from that data. My summary is error prone in many ways: I’ve multiplied quarterly earnings by 4 to obtain annual salaries, thereby omitting bonuses and including people who didn’t work the entire quarter; not everyone uses the same title to describe the same job; some [more...]

Paterson: Budget extender will contain an out for furlough ...
Gov. Paterson in the next few hours is scheduled to release the latest weekly budget extender legislation, which lawmakers will probably have to vote on come Monday. As we’ve reported the appropriation is expected to come with a furlough for 100,000 state employees starting May 17. But it sounds like Paterson is also giving the state’s major unions, PEF and CSEA, a potential out in the furlough plan, since the approp is likely to contain a clause that would cancel the furloughs if the unions either agree to give back all or some of the 4 percent raises they have coming in their labor [more...]

Vermont Socialists: UVM Executive Salaries
Not so: It increased by nearly $220,000 (not including medical school faculty and administrators, whose salaries are published alongside university faculty and administrators but are paid out of a separate budget). So why did top-tier administrative salary spending go up despite Fogel’s pledge to hold the line? 1. Through the course of a rocky year for Waterman—from the [more...]

The average salary of the people being cut is about $25,000, plus benefits, according to the Press-Register calculations.
